Tuning CD
MB 1000, $14.95
Noted bassoonist and teacher, Frank Morelli, first developed his Tuning CD for Intonation Practice to afford his students a convenient and inexpensive way to enhance the practice of intonation. Most tuning machines read the bassoon's range quite accurately, but few less expensive models can reproduce the twelve tones with a quality and fidelity that adequately provides an acceptable tonal reference for effective pracitice of intonation. With Frank Morelli's Tuning CD for Intonation Practice any personal CD player, CD sound system and most personal computers can be used to greatly improve the practice experience. Using an ear phone in one ear, for example, will allow the player to practice using this CD without anyone else hearing the sound source.
In order to allow for greater flexibility and usefulness, the 36 tracks on this CD are divided into three groups. The first twelve tracks provide two-minute, continuous tones for each of the twelve tones, based on A=440 Hz. The second group of twelve tracks provides the same tones, but based on A=441 Hz. And finally, the third group of twelve tracks provides the same tones based on A=442 Hz.
